I can recall a review in one of the Dead fanzines , of one of the show near the end, in which they played "Visions", and the reviewer though it unworthy of the "ballad spot"... Ist of all, as much as I love Wharf Rat, Stella, and Black Peter... I would welcome ANY addition to those overplayed ones ! And 2nd of all, Visions of Johanna , is one of Dylan's greatest, most profound songs ( hard boiled Mick Jagger once described it as "the most beautiful song I have ever heard "), and Garcia's version is RELLY good , you can tell he MEANS it !
Sometimes you have to step out side the "Dead o centric " universe . I am sure Robert Hunter would shake his head ( or kick their ass !) at anyone who would think this masterpiece unworthy of even these great Garcia/Hunter songs .

Phil snapped up the 3 -18 -95 VOJ for his 'Zone . His quote from the notes...
" One of Dylan's greatest songs, and one Jer always had a particular affinity for - I only wish we'd done it more often . I find his guitar lead on this version unutterably poignant . "
One of the last grains of sand , crystalline .
